Meet Dr. Robert Skopek
Thirty years of orthodontic mastery. One of the first Invisalign® providers in the Midwest, and one of the most experienced clear aligner specialists in the country.
Dr. Skopek didn’t stumble into clear aligner orthodontics. He was one of the first orthodontists in the Midwest to offer Invisalign® treatment, certified in 2000—the very first year it was available —and he has spent every year since mastering it.
For the first fifteen years of his career, Dr. Skopek practiced traditional orthodontics at the highest level. But as aligner technology evolved and became capable of treating the full range of cases, he committed to it progressively and deliberately — 80% clear aligners by 2020, 98% by 2022, and exclusively clear aligners today. He didn’t move away from braces because they stopped working. He moved to clear aligners because the technology finally caught up to what he knew was possible, and when it did, he committed completely.
Today, both ClearCut locations operate under the same standard — his standard — refined over three decades of orthodontic practice.
“If we’re going to be the best at something, it has to be clear aligner orthodontics using the Invisalign® brand, and we don’t settle for anything less.”

Why he does what he does, in his own words.
What three decades of orthodontic mastery actually produces.
Dr. Skopek was one of the first orthodontists in the Midwest to offer Invisalign® clear aligner treatment — certified in 2000, the first year it was available. He believed the technology was the future of orthodontics, and as it matured, he committed to mastering it completely. Over three decades of practice, that commitment has produced a clinical track record very few providers in the country can match.
More than 20,000 orthodontic cases treated — including over 5,000 with clear aligners. Complex adult cases that other practices turned away. Teens with bite issues that required advanced planning and precise sequencing. Children in early treatment who needed a specialist experienced enough to know when to intervene, and when to wait.
The Sapphire Invisalign® Provider designation — placing Dr. Skopek in the top 1% of providers in North America — is not a marketing credential. It is a reflection of case volume, clinical complexity, and outcomes measured against the highest available standard. It is the result of choosing to specialize, and then never stopping.
Types of cases Dr. Skopek treats at ClearCut:
- Complex adult cases — including patients told by other providers that clear aligners wouldn’t work for their situation
- Teen orthodontics — including active teens, athletes, and patients requiring precise aligner sequencing
- Early treatment (Phase I) through Invisalign® First — for children ages 6–10 during the key growth window
- Crowding, spacing, bite correction, jaw development, and habit-related positioning issues
- Relapse cases — patients whose previous orthodontic treatment didn’t hold
- Second opinions — for patients who want an expert review before committing to treatment elsewhere
How he thinks about treatment.

Exclusivity is a clinical decision, not a marketing one.
Dr. Skopek chose to focus exclusively on clear aligners using the Invisalign® brand because he believes focus produces better outcomes than division. When every case you see is an Invisalign® clear aligner case, your pattern recognition improves, your planning precision deepens, and your ability to handle complexity increases. ClearCut doesn’t offer traditional braces because Dr. Skopek decided — after years of practicing both — that doing one thing exceptionally well is worth more than doing many things adequately.

The plan matters as much as the treatment.
Clear aligner outcomes are determined largely before the first aligner is placed. The digital treatment plan — how tooth movements are sequenced, how forces are distributed, and how the bite is managed across the arc of treatment — is where the expertise lives. But the digital tools are available to any provider. By assessing jaw joint health, gum health, bite function, myofunctional balance, and growth and development, Dr. Skopek develops the diagnosis and treatment plan personally for every patient. Not a template. Not an algorithm. A plan built around the specific biology and goals of each patient.

Skopek Remote is a clinical standard, not a convenience feature.
Dr. Skopek built Skopek Remote — powered by Dental Monitoring technology — into ClearCut treatment because remote scan review catches issues that in-office visits alone would miss. Aligner fit problems, tracking deviations, and compliance drops are identified and addressed between appointments — not just at them. For Dr. Skopek, remote monitoring isn’t about reducing office visits. It’s about improving the quality of oversight between them.

The patient experience is part of the clinical outcome.
Dr. Skopek designed the ROX® System — a trademarked six-pillar patient experience framework — because he believes how a patient feels throughout treatment affects their engagement with it. A patient who feels informed is more compliant. A patient who feels heard is more honest about concerns. A patient who feels calm in the chair is easier to treat accurately. The ROX® System is, at its core, a clinical tool.
The doctor your patients will actually meet.
Dr. Skopek has been part of the Barrington community for over thirty years — long enough to have treated the children of patients he treated in his first years of practice, and to consider that continuity one of the most meaningful things about his work.
Beyond the office, Dr. Skopek is a familiar face in the communities he serves. He supports WINGS and Barrington Giving Day, sponsors local schools and activities, and stays actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce at both locations. He has never separated the practice from the community — in his mind, they’ve always been the same thing.
What his patients say, consistently, across thirty years, is that he listens. That he explains things clearly. That he doesn’t rush. And that when you’re done, your smile looks exactly like he said it would.
In their own words.
If you’re a general dentist considering a referral partner.
Dr. Skopek has built long-term referral relationships with general dentists across the northwest suburbs — relationships built on consistent outcomes, clear communication, and a simple promise: your patients come back to you.
ClearCut is an orthodontic specialty practice. We don’t provide general dental care. When you refer a patient to Dr. Skopek, they receive a consultation summary after their first visit, treatment from a Top 1% orthodontic specialist, and a clear path back to your chair when treatment concludes.
We also welcome lunch-and-learn visits — a chance for Dr. Skopek to meet your team, walk through the ClearCut approach, and answer any clinical questions in person.
The orthodontist specialist who built the Midwest’s only clear aligner–exclusive practice.
Dr. Robert Skopek was one of the first orthodontists in the Midwest to offer Invisalign® — and he has spent the decades since mastering it. That commitment became a practice. That practice became a standard. And that standard — built into the ROX® System, delivered through Skopek Remote with Dental Monitoring technology, and guided by three decades of orthodontic expertise — is what every ClearCut patient receives, at every visit, at both locations.
When you choose ClearCut, you’re not choosing a practice. You’re choosing the doctor who built it.
